Product information "Zeppelin NT, 80 years polar flight LZ 127 'Graf Zeppelin' - postal stationery, Germany"
In commemoration of the anniversary "80 years of polar voyage LZ 127 'Graf Zeppelin'", the Zeppelin NT carried out a commemorative flight on July 25, 2011. The Zeppelin NT had a sack of mail on board. The authenticity of the receipt and the transport by airship are confirmed by the affixed on-board seal stamp. This was also provided with the imprint of the Zeppelin NT's on-board stamp "Baden-Württemberg".
The polar voyage of LZ 127 "Graf Zeppelin" was an event that received much attention all over the world. It lasted from July 24th to July 31st, 1931. The aim was not to reach the North Pole, but to collect as much scientific data and observations as possible. After stops in Berlin and St. Petersburg, the journey led across the northern Arctic Ocean to Hooker Bay. The icebreaker "Malygin" was waiting there to exchange mail with the "Graf Zeppelin".
