The Central Asian Shepherd Dog called Alabai is a very old breed of dog that was and is kept to protect the herd and shepherds against wolves and other predators. Extreme heat and also strong cold are no problem for these dogs, in Kazakhstan it is minus 30 degrees in winter and 40 degrees above zero in summer. There are several varieties of this breed. In Tajikstan the dogs are long-haired, in Uzbekistan they are lighter dogs. The best guy is from Turkmenistan, they are great; and strong, with short, thick hair.
