The six contiguous stamps from Sint Maarten show different ships. From the "Skuldelev Knorr", a trading and cargo ship of the Vikings to a four-masted tall ship built in 1884 to the "Pearling Dau" from 1900. A wonderful stamp issue from an interesting country.
The six stamps show the following ships:
* 50 C. "Skuldelev Knorr" approx. 1030 - Viking trade and cargo ship. The Vikings set out on their ocean voyages with these very stable merchant ships.
* 60 C. "Mataro" , 1450 - the oldest surviving ship model from the time of the overseas discoveries
* 80 C. "St. Michael" , 1669 - the 90-gun flagship of the English Admiral Robert Holms during the 3rd Anglo-Dutch naval war
* 380 C. "B & uuml; se" , 1700 - sailing ship, mainly used to catch herring in the North Sea
* 405 C. "Wendur" , 1884 - Four-masted sailor
* 525 C. "Perling Dau" , 1900.
