Raffael was born in 1483 and was an Italian painter and architect of the Renaissance. At the age of eleven, Raffael learned in Pietro Vanucci's workshop. He learned so much from him that the works of the two were difficult to distinguish. Raffael was so talented that he was called a Magister at the age of 17. His first large painting was the "London Crucifixion". Raffael died of an illness at the age of 37. He became famous for his harmonious paintings of Madonnas.
