Radio Resistance - Ersttagsbrief, Israel

This first day cover was issued by the postal administration in Israel. It contains a postage stamp with a face value of NIS 9.60 and shows a poster for resistance radio with a radio announcer on the lower open corner.

All resistance radio broadcasts were conducted in secret and posed a great danger to their operators. Most of the transmitters were transported and coded in suitcases. The broadcasts were usually short and only lasted 5-10 minutes to prevent the British from being tracked.
In 1948 the resistance radio stations were deleted.
