Product information "Outer space: Space Shuttle - block of stamps mint never hinged, catalog no. 3607 p. 383, Paraguay"
The idea of Prof. Eugen S & auml; ngers of a reusable spacecraft was first realized by the space transporter "Space Shuttle" of the USA.

This beautiful block edition from Paraguay not only honors Eugen S & auml; nger (1905 - 1964), but also shows the space shuttle on the edge of the block with the lid of the payload compartment open, containing the space laboratory Spacelab.

Professor Dr. Ing.Eugen S & auml; nger designed engines with high pressure combustion chambers and dealt with propulsion and flight mechanical problems of ramjet propulsion. In 1944 he published his project for a space glider with a payload of 3.8 tons. From 1950 to 1952 he was the first board member of the International Astronautical Federation, and from 1956 chairman of the German Society for Rocket Technology and Space Travel in Stuttgart.
