This beautiful block of stamps from Mozambique with a face value of 175.00 MT shows the mycologist Gordon Herriot Cunningham. On the edge of the block there is a small world of mushrooms and animals on one hand.
Gordon Herriot Cunningham was born in Heriot on August 27, 1892. He was one of seven children. His father owned a sheep farm where he started working at the age of 14. 1909 left he New Zealand and went to Australia. In 1910 he returned to his homeland, but had only a short stay, because from then on he traveled constantly. He specialized in many areas. In 1919 he finally became a mycologist.
