Max Schmeling can without a doubt be regarded as one of the most popular German athletes. He was born on May 28, 1905. After a short amateur career, he became a professional boxer at the age of nineteen. His career lasted until 1948.
Max Schmeling played his last fight on October 31, 1948 in the Berlin Waldb & uuml; hne.
Max Schmeling died on February 2nd, 2005 at the age of 99.
He was Germany's only boxing world champion of all classes so far. He delivered the most famous fight of his career on June 19, 1936, when, contrary to all expert opinions, he knocked out the still undefeated American Joe Louis after 12 rounds. hit
