Product information "Janis Joplin - sheetlets mint never hinged, USA"
Wonderful stamp issue for the singer Janis Joplin, the queen of blues rock. Janis Joplin was best known for the performance of her Kozmic Blues Band at the legendary Woodstock Festival in 1969. The US Post dedicates this sheet - it contains 16 self-adhesive stamps - to the unforgettable artist.
Born on January 19, 1943 in Los Angeles began Janis Joplin's career in 1966 when she joined Big Brother and the Holding Company in San Francisco. Alongside Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin was one of the central symbolic figures of the hippie era and all three shaped a lifestyle that was later referred to as "Sex, Drugs and Rock'n Roll". Due to her early death at the age of only 27, Janis Joplin is also a member of "Club 27"! She was posthumously inducted into the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" in 1995, received her own star on the "Walk of Fame" in Hollywood in 2013 and now the US Post has issued this fantastic miniature sheet in honor of the gifted musician!
