This Reichspost postage stamp - 3 Pf dark ocher brown - bears the steep letterpress overprint "Marianen" and was issued in May 1900. It is the catalog no. 1 II. I can offer you this issue today as a mint never hinged pair of bridges.
Stegpaare - also called intermediate bridge pairs - are one of the rarest collective forms of mint stamps of the German protected areas and colonies. They owe their creation to the large formats of the printed sheets of individual stamp issues.
In terms of format, these were far too unwieldy for the switch. In order to obtain handy counter sheets, the officials of the Reichspost had the option of halving the large printed sheets by simply cutting them apart in the middle of the unprinted intermediate web field. Most of the large duck arches were "further processed" in this way, so that the number of mint never hinged, unfolded bar pairs has become very small.
