Product information "Field Postal Unit, a special unit with a special mission - stamp block mint never hinged, Süda"
This block of stamps has the outline of the African continent and thus symbolizes the Africa-wide activities of the 11th FPU. In the philatelic map of Africa 10 self-adhesive postage stamps with the postage rate for standard letters are integrated, which illustrate the different fields of activity of the 11th FPU.

The African 11 Field Postal Unit was established to provide the South African National Defense Force, South African Armed Forces, and its members with efficient field mail wherever it is deployed. The establishment of the 11 FPU on October 1st, 1964 resulted from negotiations between the South African Post and the SANDF due to the need for an efficient field post service.

The 11 FPU operates across Africa. The SANDF and thus also the 11 FPU took part in various African international missions, such as the UN missions in Congo and Burundi. This all-African deployment of this field post service is now represented by an extraordinary block.
