Walter Disney invented the " Mickey Mouse " in 1928 on a train ride from New York to Hollywood. At first he wanted to name the character "Mortimer Maus". His wife finally came up with the name "Mickey Mouse". To make "Mickey Mouse" known, Walter Disney produced a short film with the theme "Charles Lindbergh's Transatlantic Flight". The first sound film about "Mickey Mouse" was released on November 18, 1928. The first color film came out in 1935 and delighted audiences. After that, the popularity fell and Donald Duck became more and more famous. For a long time no cartoon of "Mickey Mouse" was produced. It wasn't until 1983 that the Oscar-nominated cartoon "Mickey's Christmas Story" was released. In 1998 Mickey Mouse celebrated its 70th anniversary.
