The 1978 Christmas block of the Federal Republic of Germany contains a stamp with a surcharge of 50 + 25 Pfg. This stamp shows a depiction of the Christ Child based on a detail from the "Scharfzandt window" of the Frauenkirche in Munich. Block 17, mint never hinged.
The "Scharfzandt window" shown on the stamp and on the edge of the block was created in 1493 by the important Strasbourg glass painter Peter Hemmel von Andlau.
