These six stamps were issued from Ecuador on January 19, 1968 on the subject of "Christian paintings and sculptures by local artists". The 10 C postage stamp shows the painting of the Lamentation of Christ, a sculpture by Manuel Chili. The Assumption and the Coronation of the Blessed Virgin, painting by Bernado de Legarda, can be seen on the postage stamps at 80 C and 1.30 S. The painting from the Quito school on the 1S stamp also depicts the Blessed Virgin. On the postage stamp for 1.50 S, the painting by an unknown master, shows the Holy Virgin as Queen of Heaven with child and saints. The 2S stamp is illustrated with the painting by Samaniego, it shows the Blessed Virgin with a child. Catalog no. 1403-1408
