Product information "Cassini-Huygens Mission - Document, USA / Germany"
This document on the joint US-American-European Cassini-Huygens mission to the planet Saturn and its moon Titan is franked with two postage stamps. On the one hand there is the German postage stamp "communications satellite", on the other hand the US postage stamp "50th anniversary of the 1st supersonic flight". Both stamps were canceled with the special "Cassini Launch Station" with the pictorial representation of the Cassini-Huygens probe in orbit around the planet Saturn.
On October 6, 1997, the American space probe "Cassini" launched with the European probe " Huygens "on board. Seven years later - in June 2004 - it was dropped and dropped onto Saturn's moon Titan, braked by a parachute. Astrophysicists suspect that Saturn's moon Titan is in a state like that of Earth four billion years ago. This offers the unique opportunity to "travel back in time".
