On the occasion of the anniversary, Israel issued three beautiful miniature sheets, each with eight stamps. They are reminiscent of the small town of Anatevka in the pre-revolutionary period around 1905 and the story about the milkman Tevje playing there.
Anatevka or: "If I were once rich, o je wi di wi di bum .. .. "
We all know the musical "Anatevka", which premiered 50 years ago on September 22nd, 1964 in New York. In the original version, the work was entitled "Fiddler on the roof".
Anatevka is a musical based on the Yiddish novel "Tevye, the milkman" by Scholem Alejchem. The original English title is from Marc Chagall's picture Fiddler on the Roof.
