Product information "American space travel - 8 stamps mint never hinged, catalog no. 1311-18, Paraguay"
This now rare space stamp series was published in Paraguay on April 25, 1984. It shows different space capsules, satellites and rockets from American space travel on eight stamps.
The circulation of this stamp issue is only 20,000 sets and 1,000 sets with the imprint "MUESTRA". Catalog no. 1311-18, mint never hinged.
The two postage stamps of 0.15 and 0.25 Guarani show the sectional drawing of the Apollo space capsule - a design from the early years that still differs significantly from the variant realized later. The 0.30 Guarani stamp shows the American "TIROS 7" weather satellite, which was launched on June 19, 1963. The satellite was 42 cm in diameter, 19 cm high and weighed just under 130 kg. It drew its energy from 9,200 solar cells - something quite special in 1963. It was in service for a total of 1,809 days before it was deactivated by NASA on June 3, 1968. During this time he sent over 30,000 photographs to earth. The two postage stamps for 0.40 and 0.50 Guarani show the American lunar probe "RANGER 6", which started on January 30, 1964 in Cape Canaveral and reached the surface of the moon on February 2 of the same year. The airmail stamps at 12.45, 18.15 and 50.00 Guarani show a starting Saturn I launcher. It was 55 m high, had a diameter of 6.5 m and could carry a payload of just over 9 t into space. The first flight of a Saturn I rocket took place on October 27, 1981.
