The postal administration in Aden / Kathiri State of Seiyon is presenting this block of stamps. The stamp block contains two stamps. The two stamps show the paintings "The Portrait of a Young Man" and "Half-Length Portrait of a Venetian Woman" by Albrecht Dürer. Catalog number: page 21 A

The painting "The portrait of a young man" shows Bernhard von Reesen. Albrecht D & uuml; rer received the commission for the painting in 1521. He painted it in Antwerp. Today the work is in the state art collection and picture gallery of Dresden.

The painting "Half-length portrait of a Venetian woman" shows a Venetian woman who is also shown on the 5 DM note. The unfinished painting was one of the first works by Albrecht D & uuml; rer during his second stay in Venice. At first the painting was in the Schwarz Collection in Gdansk. In 1923 it was acquired by the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna.
