Product information "Airship LZ 129 Hindenburg - stamp booklet, federal government"
The six individual stamps in this stamp booklet show you what it was like on board the airship LZ 129 “Hindenburg”. There was a large dining room with a promenade from where one could admire the passing landscapes, a foyer, a writing and reading room and even a smoking lounge with a bar.
When we travel overseas in inexpensive last-minute flights today, we are cramped like sardines and are often allowed to endure the service on board, which is deteriorating from year to year for cost reasons. At the time of the LZ 129 "Hindenburg" airship, travel was much more elegant, not to say more luxurious, although we must of course note that only a few could afford such an expensive flight at the time. On the first trips there was even a grand piano made of aluminum for musical entertainment.
