Product information "Aircraft & quot; Albatros & quot; - Individual brand mint, Germany"
The Albatros D. Va was a biplane with a single seat and carried two machine guns, which made it a dreaded fighter aircraft. The aircraft entered service in 1917 and was equipped with a 180 hp Mercedes 6-cylinder engine. Ernst Udet, who is the second most successful German fighter pilot after Manfred von Richthofen, achieved his greatest successes with this aircraft. The Individuell postage shows the albatross in flight.
Ernst Udet (born April 26, 1896 in Frankfurt am Main; † November 17, 1941 in Berlin) was a fighter pilot in the German Army during the First World War. After Manfred von Richthofen, he achieved the second highest number of kills among German fighter pilots. During the time of National Socialism, Udet was responsible for the technical equipment of the Air Force in the Reich Aviation Ministry and from 1939, at last with the rank of Colonel General, held the post of General Air Master of the Wehrmacht.
