Yuri Gagarin was the first person in space. The postal administration of Tanzania is honoring this milestone in the history of manned space travel with a wonderful block edition. The stamp block contains four stamps of 1,200 (Sh) each. The pictures show: Soviet space capsule "Vostok 1"; Portrait of Yuri Gagarin; Vostok carrier package; Yuri Gagarin monument.
On April 12, 1961, the Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was the first person to cross the internationally recognized border of 100 km.
The "Vostok 1" with Gagarin on board took off from the Tyuratam spaceport and landed after orbiting the earth near the south-west Russian city of Engels.
Yuri Gagarin was the first person in space.
The flight is one of the greatest successes of the Soviet space program and is considered a milestone in the space race between the USSR and the United States.
