1st World War, The Red Baron - stamp block mint never hinged, Sierra Leone

To commemorate the anniversary of the death of the "Red Baron" - a German fighter pilot in World War I - this block of stamps was issued by Sierra Leone and shows various fighter planes on its four stamps. The edge of the block is illustrated with a portrait of the courageous pilot.
Freiherr Manfred Albrecht von Richthofen (2.5.1892 - 21.4.1918) was a German fighter pilot in World War I and was known under the name "Der Rote Baron". He achieved the highest number of aerial victories ever achieved by a pilot in World War I.
