The 60th anniversary of Erich Kästner's (1899 - 1974) death is on July 29th. His name is mainly associated with the book "Emil and the Detectives", which was first published in 1928. In the meantime there are several generations of readers who grew up with Erich Kästner's novels for children: "Pünktchen und Anton", "The flying classroom" or "Das doppelte Lottchen" are probably his best-known works.
