Product information "100 years of airmail in Germany - Airmail Leipzig – Lindenthal, souvenir card"
For this anniversary we present you this beautiful nostalgic souvenir card, franked with the appropriate individual stamp, designed according to the historical motif from 1912. This airmail was held on the occasion of the Leipzig Margareten Festival in Lindenthal. 100 years later our anniversary flight took place - documented by the day stamp of Taucha with the date May 18, 2012 - took off and landed on the historic airfield founded in 1928 in Taucha, northeast of Leipzig. The air mail was transported with a modern Chessna, documented by the red confirmation stamp of the Aero Club Leipzig-Taucha. Original receipt (real flown)!
1912 was a historic year, because on February 18, 1912, the first airmail transport in Germany with an airplane took place in Bork-Brück. Further pioneering actions followed: On May 1st the airmail on the occasion of the Leipzig Margareten-Volksfest, on May 19th the first official mail was carried by airplane in Germany, on July 25th the Gotha-Erfurt airmail followed on September 28th first Bavarian airmail in Munich.
